This sacred icon depicts the Theotokos of Kazan, one of the most beloved wonderworking icons in the Russian Orthodox Church and around the world. Known for her intercession in times of national crisis and personal need, the Kazan Mother of God is venerated for her protective grace and maternal tenderness.

In this traditional rendering:

The Theotokos looks gently upon the viewer, directing attention to her Son.

The Christ Child stands to her right, blessing with His right hand and holding the edge of her veil in His left — a sign of unity and divine authority.

On either side stand:

Archangel Gabriel (left), the bringer of the Annunciation

St. John the Baptist (right), the Forerunner and great intercessor

Also printed at the bottom is a prayer of intercession to the Theotokos in Slavonic.

Set in a richly decorated metallic background, this icon follows the classic Hodegetria style of the Kazan tradition, where the Virgin points to Christ as the way to salvation.

Healing of the sick

Blessing and guidance in family life

She is commemorated on July 8 and November 4 in the Orthodox Church.
