This sacred icon depicts the Theotokos of Kazan, one of the most beloved wonderworking icons in the Russian Orthodox Church. Known for her intercession in times of national crisis and personal need, the Kazan Mother of God is venerated for her protective grace and maternal tenderness.

In this traditional rendering:

• The Theotokos looks gently upon the viewer, directing attention to her Son.

• The Christ Child stands to her right, blessing with His right hand and holding the edge of her veil in His left — a sign of unity and divine authority.
